Obituary of Albert Garner, Jr.

Albert Lee "Sonny" Garner, Jr., 81, of Raleigh passed away Thursday morning, September 4, 2014 at Rex Hospital after a brief illness.

Sonny was born in Wake County, the son of the late Albert Lee Garner, Sr. and Sadie Robbins Garner. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Bart and a brother, Richard.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 56 years, Tula Wall Garner; brother, Jimmy Garner (Diane); nephew, Brad Garner (Sharon); sisters-in-law, Christine Coker, Jean Gresham, Joan Searcy (Jack); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sonny served in the United States Army, was a Wake County Magistrate for 20 years and employed by UPS for 10 years.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sonny to Open Door Baptist Church, 9801 Durant Road, Raleigh, NC 27614 or a charity of your choice.
