Alfred Murphy Langston, age 82, peacefully passed away at home into the arms of his Heavenly Father, lovingly surrounded by his family, on Thursday, May 18, 2017.

Alfred was born on July 31, 1934 in Greene County, North Carolina as the first born to Preston Sr. and Lucille Langston. Alfred was the oldest brother to Preston Langston Jr., Linda Parris,and David Langston.

During his time serving in the Army, Alfred wed his beloved wife, Betty Walston Langston and
they celebrated 59 years of marriage in April. Together, they had one daughter, Lisa Langston Hall. Alfred became better known as "Granddaddy" after Lisa and her husband, Thomas Hall, had two girls, Brittany and Jordan Hall. In all of their minds, his faithfulness, friendliness, loving personality, compassion for others, and certainly his sense of humor made him the absolute best friend, son, brother, husband, Daddy, and Granddaddy anyone could ever ask for.
