Obituary of Aline Strother
Aline Blake Strother, 95, of 1815 Ridge Road, Raleigh, NC surrendered her soul April 10, 2010.
At her death, she was residing with her daughter who had been her primary caregiver during her final years. She was born in Wake County February 28, 1915, to the late John Metrice and Lelia Thomas Blake.
Her greatest joy in life was the time she spent on Ridge Road enjoying the outdoors and gardening. For many years she raised hens as part of her small egg business. She was referred to as the "egg lady" and the community enjoyed the fresh eggs she personally delivered.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Madison Strother; three brothers and one sister.
Surviving are her daughter, Donna S. Ramsey of Raleigh; son, James L. Strother and his wife Nancy, of Knightdale; two grandchildren, one great grandchild and her sister, Lila B. Upchurch of Garner.
Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Montlawn Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.
Sincere gratitude goes to the staff during her residency at Universal Health Care of North Raleigh; especially to her CNA, Teresa Croom, and nurse, Turissa Bright for their faithful devotion to Mother's needs and special requests. Special thanks to Bill Watkins, Robert and Deborah Nash, and Paul and Carla Smith for their assistance and generosity during her home health care stay in the downtown Boylan Heights neighborhood. Also by her side was "Chewy", her beloved therapy cat.
