Obituary of Alton Howard, Jr.

Alton Lee Howard, Jr., 85, of Raleigh passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Sunday evening, January 10, 2016.

Born May 18, 1930 in Turkey, NC, he was the son of the late Alton Lee Howard, Sr. and Lula Eldridge. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Howard, and sister, Elizabeth Barbee.

Alton is survived by his beloved wife of 64 wonderful years, Virginia L. Howard; sons, Chris Howard and his wife Marcia, Tim Howard and his wife Susan; grandchildren, Paxton Howard, Christian Howard, Rachel Howard, and Ian Howard; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m., Thursday, prior to the service.
