Obituary of Andrew Jordan
Andrew Jackson "Andy" Jordan, 79, of Raleigh, died Wednesday morning, August 4, 2010 at his home.
Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church, 4301 Louisburg Rd., Raleigh. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Montlawn Funeral Home.
A native of Hertford County, Andy was the son of Elbert Lorenzo Jordan and Elsie Mae Bunch Jordan. He was the owner and operator of the Bonanza Steak House on Wake Forest Road for over 10 years, operated Paradise Bingo for over 25 years and was the former owner of Finch's Restaurant in downtown Raleigh. Andy was an avid golfer, loved spending time outdoors in his flower garden but his true love was simply spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren which were his pride and joy. Andy was a member of the Discussion Sunday School class at New Hope Baptist Church.
Andy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Freeman Jordan; daughters, Dena Jordan Brown and her husband, Dennis of Raleigh, Cynthia Jordan Layton of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Michael Brandon Layton and his wife, Paula, Courtney Lynn Layton, Derick A. Dail; great grandson, Taylor Layton; sister, Virginia Mae Clark and her husband, Troy, of Buena Vista, VA. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Shannon Leigh Dail.
Because Andy loved working in his yard and gardening, flowers are welcomed.
