Obituary of Anne Page
Anne Bailey Page, nee Anne Ruth Bailey, passed to her Lord and Savior on August 11, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 62 years old.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2011 at Fairmont United Methodist Church in Raleigh with the Rev. Steve Hickle officiating. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11:00 a.m. Monday.
Born on April 13, 1949, Anne was the daughter of the late Ruth Hill Bailey and Rev. Dr. A. Purnell Bailey. Anne graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, VA, and received a BA degree in French from North Carolina Wesleyan College.
Anne taught French, Spanish, and Latin in the Wake County Public School System for thirty years. The majority of those years were spent at Martin Middle school in Raleigh, where she also led student tours overseas in the summers and piloted an exchange program through sister Cities with Raleigh's sister city, Compiegne, France. She led this exchange for sixteen years in the summers. Anne was a member of several professional and service sororities.
Anne is survived by her husband of 40 years, Peter Smith Page; two sons, Edgar Bailey Page and his wife Kristel Jenkins Page, and Emmett McBrannon Page and his wife Sarah Keener Page; four grandchildren, Callie Holland Page, Abigail Morgan Page, Jackson Bailey Page, and Andrew Vernon Page; stepmother, Betty Lou Bailey; three sisters, Carol B. Harriman, Beth B. Richardson, and Jeanne Dodge-Allen; step-brother, Walter Sheffield; two step-sisters, Dr. Polly Roberts and Courtney Tierney.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made in Anne's name to A.P. Bailey Pre-ministerial Program, Office of Development, Randolph Macon College, P.O. Box 5005, Ashland, VA 23005.
