IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anne Kenyon
Reed
May 25, 1946 – October 3, 2022
With the utmost joy, Martha Anne Reed, obtained her wings and joined our Savior on October 3, 2022. Lovingly known as Anne, she was an amazing Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend to so many she touched through the years. She left us from the comfort of her house surrounded by her children in her 76th year of life.
Born in Raleigh, NC, at Rex Hospital, Anne was the daughter of the late Dorothy and Thurman Kenyon and grew up in the Dixie Trail area attending all the local schools, including Broughton High School, and then attended college at UNC Greensboro and NC State University. She married Theodore "Ted" Reed in 1965 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and through the years, had a wonderful family living in the Five Points area and was blessed with 3 children. When a house fire occurred in 1983, Anne and her Family returned to her childhood roots and lived near Dixie Trail until her passing.
A hard-working lady, she always enjoyed her coworkers through the years at Burton's and Elisburg's in Cameron Village and then ending her dedicated career after an amazing 30-year tenure with the NC Department of Transportation.
A homebody who really enjoyed the comfort of her house, she also loved the beach at Salter Path/Emerald Isle and her childhood memory of the Tom Browne FFA Camp in Barnardsville, NC. She loved puzzles, watching Hallmark movies, her precious pet Pack, sitting outside enjoying nature especially her birds, listening to Wolfpack games on the radio, dancing, collecting Hallmark ornaments, doing crossword puzzles in the News & Observer, decorating, and celebrating every season especially Christmastime, attending the Raleigh Christmas Parade at her favorite spot, and so many other things that brought joy to her amazing and wonderful soul.
Most of all she loved her Family and Friends and instilled the best attributes in her children and grandchildren that have served them well and will continue forever.
Along with her parents, Anne was predeceased by her husband, Theodore "Ted" and her special grandson Brandon.
Anne was the beloved mother of Teddy (Lara), Christy (Steve), and Johnathan (Kandace); proud grandmother to: Julia, Bailey, Evan, Connor, Julian and also grand-dog, Zoey; sister to Nancy Kenyon and Jamie Davis; aunt to many precious nieces & nephews.
Mom's favorite word is BELIEVE and she would want everyone to believe in what's good in the world, love, peace, and happiness!
A celebration of Anne Reed's life will be held at the Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC , on Saturday, October 15 2022 beginning at 2:00 pm, the family will visit prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
