IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anthony Joseph
Matise
June 2, 2002 – August 27, 2024
Anthony Joseph Matise, beloved son, brother and friend passed away on August 27 in Raleigh, NC at the age of 22. Anthony was born in Wellington, FL but has called Garner, NC his home since the age of 4.
Anthony's journey though brief, was marked by his kind heart, quick wit and loving spirit. From a young age, Anthony showed his love of sports and enjoyed playing little league baseball for Garner area sports leagues. Anthony was a avid Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Sixers and Flyers fan. He also loved his NC State Wolfpack. Some of Anthony's greatest memories were spent watching these teams both in person and at home with his family and friends. Many know his quiet and calm spirit, but those lucky enough to watch games with him, learned of his quite passionate side.
Anthony is survived and deeply missed by his father Joe, mother Mickey, stepmother Lauren, Mickey's fiancé Matt, brother Nicolas, sister Mackenzie, step - brothers Alder and Anson and Matt's daughter Sage. He also leaves behind his paternal grandparents, Nancy and Joe Matise; best friends Sean Gilmartin, Will Dawson, Tyler Reyes and Nick Tracy; and a family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Joe and Anna Giacobbe and maternal uncle, Joey Giacobbe.
The family asks that to honor Anthony, everyone please wear their favorite Eagles, Phillies, Sixers, Flyers or Wolfpack gear for his celebration of life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Anthony's name, a gesture that would honor his compassionate spirit. Anthony's courage and strength during his battle with leukemia is a testament to his personality. Though calm and quiet-natured, Anthony was an inspiration to everyone who met him and had the pleasure of caring for him. We are especially grateful for his care team at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, Prisma Health in Greenville, SC and Transitions Lifecare in Raleigh, NC.
Anthony's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His life, though short, was a testament to the impact one individual can have on those they meet. Rest in peace Anthony. Your memory will forever be a source of inspiration and joy to all who knew you.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
