Arthur Bennett Dunn, affectionately known as (Artie) was born on January 9, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Arthur Clifford Dunn and Lavina Dunn-Davis, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Felicia Gail Dunn-Jones.  Artie departed this life peacefully on May 26, 2018, with family and friends by his side.

Artie attended George Westinghouse Technical High School in Brooklyn New York and continued his education at Lenoir Community College, Kinston, N.C. where he received his Associate Degree in Applied Science (AAS).  In addition he received numerous certifications in engineering throughout his career.

Artie served in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller, and received an Honorable Discharge in 1955.  He began a beloved career in Electronic Technology as a Prototype Test Technician for Polard Electronic Corporation; Test and Calibration Engineer for Curtiss Wright Corporation.  Later he joined faculty and became Chair of the Engineering Department at Lenoir Community College.  Artie relocated to Raleigh and retired from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in 1989.

Artie, from childhood, was an avid reader, had a love for sports, and as a youth played on a minor baseball league.  His other favorite past time, which carried well into his adult life was the love for bowling.  He bowled on several leagues around the state.  Artie's love for people and social life led him to become the owner of the first Members Only Night Club "The Cellar" in Kinston, N.C.

Artie leaves to cherish his daughters, Laura Echard (Earl) of Raleigh, NC; Sharyn Dunn Alvarez; sons, Keith Bennett Dunn of Detroit, Michigan; Arthur Alan Dunn; Richard Kevin Dunn; Sister, Jay-Jacquelyn Dunn-Hunter (Milton) of Raleigh, NC; Brother; Lloyd Everett Dunn (Babes) of Queens Village, N.Y; Grandchildren, {Lady} Michele Miller-Cox (Steve), Michael A. Miller and five additional grandchildren; six Great-Grandchildren; six Great-Great Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
