Arthur Boyd Hobbs aka "Chubby", loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully on August 3, 2021 at the age of 86. He was born in Clinton, North Carolina on August 3, 1935 to Dewey Lee Hobbs and Merdie Raynor Hobbs. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his siblings, Joyce Thomas, Hoyt Hobbs, Phillip Hobbs, and Douglas Hobbs.

Arthur was employed by the State of North Carolina at Dorothea Dix Hospital and retired in 1998 after a 41-year career with the State. Arthur was a man of great integrity, wisdom, and character. He was kind-hearted, generous and compassionate to all who knew him. He endured many serious health issues for the last few years.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Bell Hobbs; daughter, Karen Lynne Padgett and husband Lynn; son, Rodney Keith Hobbs; grandson, Adam Lee Hamrick and wife Erin; great granddaughter, Bailey Anne; granddaughter, Kasey Lynne Holified and husband Kevin; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held at Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC on Friday, August 6 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a service following directly after.
