Obituary of Aseita Ward

Aseita Altomare Ward passed away peacefully on July 15, 2007 at home with her daughter in Raleigh. She was born April 5, 1917 in North Bergen, NJ, the third daughter of Francesco Altomare and Isabella Rosa Squeo Altomare. She will be remembered for a lifetime of service and dedication to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Prior to moving from Long Island, NY to Raleigh in 1995, Aseita, a high school and college athlete, had retired from 35 years of teaching in 1978, and had been an active member of the NYS Retired Teachers Association, and played violin in a senior citizens orchestra.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, George Ward, sisters Nemba Cooney and Mary Stander, daughter Marti Wilson (Dan Wilson), grandchildren Danyel Sherman and Nathan Wilson, and great-grandchildren Jason, Gage, Kaytie, Graylin and Aleeya. She was preceded in death by sisters, Anna Altomare and Eoo Stergas, brother, Frank Altomare, and son David Ward.

Visitation will be held on Friday July 20, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Montlawn Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
