RALEIGH

Barbara Mantiply Collier, 63, known to friends and family as GeeGee, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 after a long and hard-fought battle with breast cancer.

Born on November 11th, 1957, she was the middle of three sisters. GeeGee was a Cary, NC native who graduated from Cary High School in 1976 and went on to marry her sweetheart Robert David Collier. Together they travelled the world before settling down to raise their children. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her infectious laugh and her gentle soul. She was a caring wife and mother who took joy in spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband and best friend of 44 years, David; daughters, Michelle (Derek) Swart and Kate Collier; grandsons, Cipie Swart and Ansel Swart; sisters, Debbie Mantiply and Melissa Smith; step sisters, Joanna Carroll and Michelle Simpson; father, Robert Mantiply as well as many other friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Hamby Mantiply and daughter, Dominique Angeleah Collier.

On Saturday, May 15th, from 1:00- 3:00 pm the family will hold a celebration of GeeGee's life and gather for a memorial visit at Montlawn Funeral Home in Raleigh, NC. On Sunday afternoon, June 6th, at 2:00 pm there will be a graveside service at the Old Bluff Presbyterian Church in Godwin, NC.
