Barbara Ann Sabio, 72, died in a car accident on August 27, 2021.  She was born in Paterson, New Jersey on July 27, 1949.  She graduated from Four Oaks High School in 1967.

Barbara is survived by her children: David Sabio (Christine) of Garner; and Tippi Hales (Mike) of Clayton.  She is survived by a Grandson, Trent Garriss of Wilmington.  Barbara was also survived by a brother, John Sabio (Teri) of California and two sisters: Diane Cota (Fred) of California and Patricia Purvis (Tim) of Four Oaks.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Louise Sabio.  She was also predeceased by her first husband and soulmate Donald Powell who sacrificed his life aboard the U.S.S. Scorpion in 1968.

After retiring from business administration in the medical field, Barbara found great joy as a Nanny.  She found happiness in helping children develop their interests and learn new things.  She nurtured, taught, loved, and became an extension of the families.

While the family grieves their loss they are choosing to remember Barbara in accordance to her wishes and in a way that honors her vibrant spirit.  There will be a celebration of her life at a date to be determined.
