Bernell Causey Lane, 82, died peacefully at her family home on January 20, 2017. Born January 18, 1935, Berrnell is preceded in death by her father Leslie Causey, mother Gladys Causey, and sister Christine Burgio. She is survived by her husband of 64 years William "Billy" Lane; three children: Pat Lane (Gary), Roger Lane (Madeline), and Charles Lane (Ann); grandchildren: Ray Richardson (Brian), Gregory Lane (Luanne), Amanda Alves (Jorge), Christie Richards (Cameron), and David Lane; great-grandchildren: Will Lane, Madison Alves, Jaxon Alves; numerous nieces and nephews. Bernell is also survived by her brother Earl Causey (Sylvia).

Bernell retired after 33 years of service with the NC Department of Motor Vehicles, where she served in several capacities, climbing the ranks and making many lifelong friends along the way. Bernell was active in the American Business Women's Association, and after retirement volunteered for Garner Area Ministries. Bernell loved her family and many friends dearly.

Visitation will be held with the family at Montlawn Funeral Home in Raleigh on Wednesday, January 25, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place at Ernest Myatt Presbyterian Church on Thursday, January 26, at 1:00 p.m., with graveside service to follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
