Obituary of Bess Costello

Sebastiana "Bess" Milazzo Costello, 82, of Willow Spring, died Friday, April 9, 2010 at WakeMed Raleigh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Mother of the Church Catholic Parish, 1008 Vandora Springs Rd., Garner. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Montlawn Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening with a Vigil at 6 p.m.

A native of New York, New York, Bess was born December 16, 1927, the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Maria Stabile Milazzo. She retired from Burroughs Wellcome with over 25 years of service and was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary for over 40 years.

Bess was the loving mother of three daughters that she cherished very much; Debra Cawthorn and her husband, Robin, of Willow Spring, Lynn Georgiady and her husband, Michael, of Lillington, Karen Johnston and her husband, Jeff, of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Meagan Cawthorn and Robert Cawthorn and a brother, Joseph Milazzo, Jr. and his wife, Mona, of Sunnyside, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Humbert "Pep" Costello and her grandson, Ben Cawthorn.

Memorial contributions may be made to a college fund being established for her two grandchildren, c/o State Employees Credit Union, 1473 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529, FBO Meagan and Robert Cawthorn.
