Our beloved Mother, Betty Lancaster Batchelor of Garner and then Clayton, passed away August 7, 2023 under the compassionate care of SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.

Betty was born November 14, 1932 in Johnston County, the daughter of Roy J. and Lucille Lancaster.  She graduated from Wilson Mills High School in 1951 as the Class President. She married James E. Batchelor and became a hard working housewife.  She was divorced in 1981 and returned to work. She held jobs at Carolina Coach Company in Raleigh, Woodall's Department Store in Smithfield, and with the Department of Revenue in Raleigh.  She started classes in business at Johnston Community College in the 80s.

She is survived by a daughter, Jean B. Langdon, a son, James F. Batchelor, one granddaughter, Patricia L. Gallagher, two great-grandchildren Lillie Ann and Jacob Gallagher.
