Obituary of Beverly Tant

BEVERLY BUSBY TANT

Beverly Busby Tant passed away on July 10, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 11, 1939 to the late Edna Deitz Busby and William Thomas Busby, Jr. in Mooresville, NC, but lived most of her life in Raleigh.

Beverly founded and served as CEO of Tant Accounting Services and more recently as co-owner and Controller of Benchmark Signs, LLC. She had recently retired from business and relocated to Clayton, NC to be near her daughter and family.

Beverly is survived by her children, James Tant (Cathy), Steven Tant (Gwen) and Kelley Stewart (William), her 7 grandchildren: Aaron (Lisa), Amanda, Cathleen, Michael, Ryan, Russell and Rylie and one great grandson (Elias). She was predeceased by her son, Michael Wayne Mercer. She is also survived by her husband, Gilbert Tant, her sister Billie Busby of Denver, Colorado, her niece, Julie Busby of Conifer, Colorado and her nephew, Chip Webb of Gypsum, Colorado.

Beverly was greatly respected by her colleagues and many clients and beloved by her many friends. Beverly was known for her generosity, wisdom and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed. To know her was to love her.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 13, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., at the Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will also be receiving friends at Beverlys home in Clayton, Saturday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Beverly would have loved to encourage contributions to be made to Carolina Crown Drum & Bugle Corps, an organization developing life long excellence in young people through a superior and challenging arts education experience.
