Obituary of Billy Blackman

Billy Rudolph Blackman, 83, of Garner, passed away Sunday morning, December 29, 2013 at Tore's Home in Brevard, NC.

Born November 3, 1930 in Johnston County, NC, he was the son of the late John Jesse Blackman and Victoria Lee Blackman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Bobby Blackmon. Billy was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. He was a Free Mason and a Shriner, and a devoted member of Edenton Street United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and PaPa to his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of 58 wonderful years, Mildred Blackman; son, Anthony and his wife Sandy; grandchildren, Paige and Jesse Blackman; brother, David Blackmon; sisters, Vara Bizzel, Alice Stevens, Ruby Creech, Wilma Stewart and husband Ronnie, and Peggy Dunn; and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Montlawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The Family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
