We mourn the passing of Bruce Douglas Blackwell, who passed on February 17th, 2020. He had four main loves in his life: being a father to his daughter, delicious food, working for the state, and making the ladies and smile. He was a kind and gentle man, always greeting strangers as he would friends. His spirit was always high, spreading joy to all those around him. My father was one of those rare men who never raised his voice in anger or spoke a harsh word to anyone. He was so dedicated to his job that he never missed a day unless  the doctor put him out, and even then he was begging to go back. In the later years of his life, although he struggled with health issues that would have caused most people to crumble and break, he never stop smiling. Even in the worst of times, he was always strong, had an uplifting personality, and strived to make others around him comfortable and happy. He was a man  that truly loved people with all his heart and soul, and he will be missed by many. While the world is less for being deprived of his spirit, Heaven as gained one more angel, and I know in my heart that he is up there anxiously awaiting on the day he will be reunited with his loved ones.

The service to celebrate his life will be on March 1, 2020 at Island Creek Baptist Church at 2 pm.
