Bruce Edward Franks, 69, of Benson NC passed away peacefully in his home with his family surrounding him on Saturday October 1, 2016. He was born in Franklin, NC to David George Franks and Bernett Cassada Franks. Bruce was a military veteran, serving in the US Army during the Vietnam era in Okinawa Japan.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 50 years, Margaret McCoy Franks. His only daughter Monica Franks Strickland and husband Chris. He was a proud grandfather of his only two grandchildren Tori and Tyler Strickland and his sister, Deborah Franks Faircloth.
Bruce was a loving and proud man who worked as a manager in the tire business for most of his career at Merchant's Tire in Cary NC and Tires Plus in Saint Cloud, Florida. He enjoyed watching the Tarheels. He liked playing golf, fishing, history and spending time with his family. He never met a stranger and always had a good joke to tell and kind words to offer.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 4, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday October 5, 2016 in the funeral home chapel. Bruce will be laid to rest in the Veteran section of Montlawn Memorial Park.
