Obituary of Buna Hill

Buna Evelyn Sain Hill, 82 of Raleigh, NC passed away on February 15, 2015 in Raleigh, NC.

Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, February 19th from 6pm to 8pm at Montlawn Funeral Home in Raleigh.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, February 20th at Milner Memorial Presbyterian Church of Raleigh with Dr. Lynn Stall of Milner, officiating. Graveside service and Burial will follow at Montlawn Cemetery of Raleigh. Arrangements are by Montlawn Funeral Home.

Evelyn was born in Burke County, NC to Dorsey and Claricia Sain on November 6, 1932. She Graduated from George Hildebrand High School in 1950 with 12 years of perfect attendance. She attended Lenoir Rhyne College and worked at the Crossnore School, a residential foster care group

home. She received a Diploma from South Eastern College of Beauty Culture and went to work for Hudson Belk as a Beautician in Charlotte, NC then transferred to Raleigh. She married K. Durwood Hill, Jr. on April 13, 1958 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Casar, NC. She enjoyed her lifelong

commitment being a Homemaker, helping her children and grandchildren grow. She was a long time member of Milner Memorial Presbyterian Church, teacher of the Busy Bee's Sunday School class and was considered the heart and soul of the Milner Presbyterian Women's Organization. She actively participated in the Women's circle #1.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Dorsey & Claricia Sain, her husband K. Durwood Hill, Jr., her in-laws K. Durwood Hill, Sr. & Evelyn Bridgers Hill and her sister-in-law Elaine Hill Barber.

Evelyn is survived by her children: Martha Costello, Steve & Kim Hill, Keith & Karen Hill, Charlotte Hill. Grandchildren: Tyler Hill, Andrew Hill, Matthew & Chris Costello. Siblings: Marjorie Sain, Glenda & Joney Carswell, Glen & Linda Sain, Christine & Danny Carswell. Brother In-Law: David Barber. Nieces and Nephews: Michael & Sherry Barber, Dennis Barber, Carolyn Sain, Kevin & Jill Carswell, David Carswell, Kristy Barber Buddington & Alasdair Buddington, Glen Sain, Jr., Michelle Carswell and several great nieces and nephews.
