Obituary of Carl Fields

Carl S. "Bill" Fields, 77, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Duke Raleigh.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, September 25, 2009.

Mr. Fields was born May 2, 1932 in Hoke County, NC to Wade S. and Sallie (Hubbard) Fields of Shannon, NC. Bill served his country in the United States Air Force for 21 years, a tour with the famous Mosquito Squadron during the Korean War, and two tours in Vietnam before retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant.

Bill is survived by his wife, Shirley of Raleigh, sisters, Sara Parks of Charleston, SC and LucilleRenegar of High Point, NC; brothers, Kenneth of Raleigh and Donald of Hope Mills, NC; sons, Carl of Raleigh, Steve of Milton, FL, Mike and Greg of Clayton, NC, and Ryan of Garner, NC; granddaughter; Karmen Jo of MT and grandson Caleb of Garner, NC. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sallie Barbara and brothers Andrew, Alton and Horace.
