Carl Frank Sorrell, 75, of Apex, NC, passed away on September 8, 2019 in Garner, NC. Services to celebrate Carl's life will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh, NC. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 with Pastor Chuck Woodruff of Catawba Springs Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
Carl was born in Raleigh to Woodrow and Inez Sorrell on July 25 th , 1944. He graduated from Garner High School and was a member of Wentworth Christian Church where he was saved as a young boy. He married Cleo Janet Sauls on December 20 th , 1971 in Raleigh. During the Vietnam War, he enlisted in the Air Force serving as a staff sergeant. He graduated from Hardbarger Business College and worked as a dedicated supervisor for the transportation department of WakeMed for 29 years from which he retired. Outside of work, he continued to be a humble community servant through the McCullers Ruritan Club where he earned numerous recognitions.
Mr. Sorrell is preceded in death by parents, Woodrow and Inez Sorrell; sister, Betty Winslow; brother, Tommy Sorrell and brother-in-law, Gale Winslow. He is survived by wife, Cleo Sorrell; daughter, Carla Sorrell; sister, JoAnn Hunter; uncle, Paul Sorrell; brother-in-law, Jerry Hunter and sister-in-law, Dianne Sorrell. Carl had numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and former co-workers that loved him dearly.
Memorials may be given to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607, who provided hospice services during Carl's battle with cancer, or a church of your choice. The family of Carl Sorrell wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Bella Rose Nursing and Rehab Center and Rex oncology floor staff.
