Caroline "Carrie" May Weyant, 77, of Smithfield, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born January 5, 1949, in Huntington, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence "Buff" Burkhart and Gloria Henzel Burkhart.
She was also preceded in death by her brother Danny Burkhart. Loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to all, Carrie treasured family time.
She loved watching baseball, was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, and a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, and a big Duke fan. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and when able, took pride in mowing her own lawn and tending to her yard before she was diagnosed with MS. Yellow roses were among her favorites, and she cherished traveling, especially taking trips with her husband, who she met while they were in the Navy.
Carrie is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Carl Weyant, of the home; Daughters Carla Broadwell and husband "Slim", of Cary, North Carolina; Carmen Saunders and husband David, of Wendell, North Carolina; Granddaughters Julie Adams, of Wendell, North Carolina; Marie Saunders, Wendell, North Carolina; Step-grandchildren Amber Bryant and husband Mike, of Newton Grove, North Carolina; Kasey Jastremski and husband Jeremy of Clinton, North Carolina; Stephanie Broadwell of Holly Springs, North Carolina; Great-grandchildren Rhydian Adams, of Wendell, North Carolina; Gannon Adams, Wendell, North Carolina; Step -great-grandchildren, Chandler Medlin, of Fuquay Varina; Leonard Jastremski, Wyatt Jastremski, Annabell Jastremski and Jackson Jastremski all of Clinton, North Carolina.
Family and friends will gather on Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Montlawn Funeral Home.
Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Montlawn Memorial Park, with the rendering of military honors provided by the United States Navy.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the National MS Society's Central/Eastern NC Chapter serving Wake County is at 3101 Industrial Dr, Raleigh, NC 27609, offering support for Multiple Sclerosis.
