Obituary of Carolyn Berent

Carolyn C. Berent, 99, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013. She was born in New York, NY on September 13, 1913. She was married for 56 years to Jerome Berent who preceded her in death in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, John Berent.

During her life she enjoyed ballroom dancing, reading (especially history), studying the Bible, cooking as well as playing bridge. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving are her daughter, Elaine Godwin and husband Ray of Holly Springs; sons, Richard Berent of Holly Springs and John Berent and wife BJ of Raleigh; grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Tracy Gresko and husband Paul, David Berent and fiance, Mamie, Kristin Berent, Candace Lloyd and husband Eric, Richard Berent, II and wife Amanda, Colleen Berent and Chrissie Berent; great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Sarena, Cameron, Bella, Kade and Zachary.

A memorial service will be held 11 am Saturday at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Apex, NC where she was an active member. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am Saturday at the church prior to the service.

The family wishes to offer special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Susan Crittenden and other caretakers and friends who offered their love, visits and prayers during Mrs. Berent's declining health.
