Cecil Ray Creech, 80, of Raleigh passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at his home. He was born December 27, 1936 in Wake County, son of the late Otis Ray and Virginia Pearce Creech. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Josephine Lee Creech and a sister, Barbara Raines.
He was a dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. He loved his family and the Lord and he loved to talk about the good old days. He and his wife Josephine Lee Creech were married for 54 years and were the proud owners of Creech's Shoes and Repair in Downtown Raleigh. They worked side by side for 34 years. He was a hard worker always looking for a new project and finding a good deal! He enjoyed fishing, boating, and would rather spend most of his time outdoors. He was a farmer at heart having animals and growing a vegetable garden. Tomatoes were his specialty! His favorite hobby was having new vehicles and collecting classic ones.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 19, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Montlawn Funeral Home chapel in Raleigh with Rev. John Byrd presiding. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
He is survived by three children, Sandra C. Daniels and husband James T. Daniels, Sr. of Raleigh, Donald R. Creech of Willow Spring and Cynthia C. Ashworth and husband Kevin Ashworth of Fuquay-Varina, a sister, Shearon Byrd of Raleigh, a brother, James C. Creech of Clayton, five grandchildren, James T. Daniels, Jr. and wife Sylvia, Candace E. Creech, Travis R. Creech, Caitlyn N. Ashworth and Emily K. Ashworth, and one great grandchild, Otis X. Daniels.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 19, 2017 from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at Montlawn Funeral Home.
