Obituary of Celia Shavender

Celia Weston Shavender, 98, of Raleigh, passed from this life to her eternal home on Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Springmoor Retirement Community Stewart Health Center.

Mrs. Shavender was a native of Lake Landing, NC. She was born on July 11, 1913, the daughter of Margaret Fisher and Lawrence Jones Weston. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, E. P. Shavender; her son, Dr. E. Frank Shavender; two brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Shavender was an active member of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church until her health prevented her from attending.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Shavender Snell of Raleigh; daughter in law, Jane Hanling Shavender of Davidson NC; grandchildren, Kimberly Shavender of Seattle, Washington, Heather Zucker (Scott) of Mooresville NC, Jeffrey Shavender Snell (Melissa) of Raleigh, Justin Howell Snell (Angie) of Atlanta; seven great grandchildren, and two sisters, Frances Sparrow of Chapel Hill, NC and Christine Berryman of Hertford, NC.

Burial will be at 11:30 Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Montlawn Memorial Park. A Celebration of her Life will follow at 2:00 at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
