Obituary of Charles Pruitt

Charles Anson Pruitt passed away on December 7, 2012. He was born on October 4, 1921 in Anderson, SC.

Charlie moved to Raleigh in his early 20's and began working as an elevator mechanic for Otis Elevator Company. During his 40 year career with Otis, he became well known in the industry for his meticulous attention to detail and his excellent mechanical skills. After his retirement he devoted his time and energy into vegetable gardening and hunting with his beloved beagles. He took great pride in sharing the fruits of his labor with others.

Charlie is survived by Margaret, his wife of 64 years, his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John Jenkins, grandchildren Kristel and Ed Page and Tommy Jenkins, and great grandchildren Callie and Jack Page. Also surviving are two sisters, Cecil Gilbert and Edith Gunter, and two sisters-in-law, Betty Shaw and Mary Alice Holland.

A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2012 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 - 2 p.m. Monday, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Flowers be made in memory of Charlie to the Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or www.hospiceofwake.org/donate.
