Charles Mac Shaw
Charles Mac Shaw, 74, of Raleigh, died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Wake Med Cary Hospital as a result of complications of a hip fracture.
A native of Wake County, he was born to the late Earl and Margaret Shaw on August 14, 1933. He graduated from Cary High School in 1954. Mac was employed by the N. C. Department of Labor for 30 years, serving as a State Elevator Inspector and Director of the Elevator Division. The investigation of amusement devices in North Carolina began under his directions.
He was dedicated to his profession and a faithful charter member of Macedonia Baptist Church, serving in many capacities, including Deacon. He loved his Sunday School Class, Wednesday night suppers, and mission trips to Cuba. Mac was also a 32nd degree Mason at the Charles B. Newcomb Lodge of Raleigh.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Betty Holland Shaw; two sisters Rita Shaw McAlexander, and husband Bob, and Virginia Shaw Browning, all of Raleigh; sister in laws Margaret Pruitt (Charles), Mary Alice Holland; brother in law Rex Holland (Marie); nephews and nieces Rande McAlexander (Pat), Sloan Browning, Greg Hale, Nancy Jenkins (John), Herbert Holland (Carrie), June Atkins (Donnie); great nephews and nieces Tommy Jenkins, Kristel J. Page (Ed), Meghan and Laura McAlexander, Jason Holland, Amanda White (Tom), Shane Atkins; and two special great great nieces Callie Page and Riley Rouse. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Edna Earl Dunnigan.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 7100 Holly Springs Rd., Raleigh, NC 27606. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the Service. Interment will be at Montlawn Memorial Park.
