IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlie Walker
Johnson
August 26, 1934 – October 7, 2021
In loving memory of Charlie Walker Johnson 87, of Raleigh N.C., entered into rest on October 7, 2021 at home with family by his side.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bobbie Stone Johnson, daughters Angela Gail Johnson and husband Joseph Johnson of Garner; Gloria Johnson Anderson and husband Gerald Anderson of Raleigh; Sandra Johnson Jeffries of Wendell; sister, Mary Frances Vial of Lillington and aunt Flora Thompson Daniels of Raleigh. Charlie was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Charlie enjoyed golfing, bowling, water skiing, bird watching and traveling. He was a die-hard fan of the University of North Carolina, win or lose! Boy, he loved watching his westerns, spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren.
Charlie graduated from Garner High School, was in the National Guard Reserves, words with the News and Observer for almost 30 years and with Corning/AVX for over 30 years. He was a longtime member of Layden Memorial United Methodist Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendant, along with other offices.
If the doors were open, he was usually there helping.
He joined the South Raleigh Civitan Club in 1978. He served as Club President, Director and Candy box project manager. He received the Civitan of the year award, Citizen of the year award, Honor key, President of the Year award, and the Foundation Shropshire Fellow award. He dedicated his time to make a better world through Civitan.
Charlie was one of the most loving, caring and giving men the Lord created. He took care of his family, friends, community and strangers. We are blessed to have been part of his life.
We will remember him as simply the best husband, Daddy and Papa forever in our hearts.
