Obituary of Charlotte Carmichael

Charlotte Pilley Carmichael, 95, of Raleigh, passed away Wednesday morning, March 5, 2014 at the Oaks of Mayview.

Mrs. Carmichael was born May 19, 1918 in Beaufort County, the daughter of Charles Owen Pilley and Josephine Harris Pilley. She attended Meredith College, the first member of her family to do so, until the Great Depression. Mrs. Carmichael worked in the Office of the Registrar at North Carolina State University and was a longtime member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Latham and her husband, Paul of Raleigh; grandson, Eric Mooneyham; great grandchildren, Aiden Mooneyham, Ella Latham, and Jack Latham, as well as her sister, Raye Shoun of Siler City.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Montlawn Funeral Home.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Hayes Barton Baptist Church with Dr. David Hailey officiating.
