Obituary of Charlotte Fain

Charlotte Tucker Fain, 89, of Fuquay-Varina, passed away Thursday morning, January 5, 2012 at the Apex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Montlawn Memorial Park.

A native of Moultrie, Georgia, Charlotte was born January 22, 1922, the daughter of Ansel Clifton Tucker and Thelma Leona Black Tucker. She lived a life centered on her sons, for whom she was a good, nurturing and protective mother. She was very independent in her manner of life, insisting on living alone until a few years ago when her declining health would not allow her to be by herself. Charlotte always displayed and was a good example of sensible frugality learned during the Great Depression and World War II. She delighted in being an excellent seamstress for her family and was accomplished at crocheting. After the death of her husband, she drove herself from Georgia to live in Alaska with her sons where she spent many years working with the F. W. Woolworth Company. She lived in Wake County for many years after moving here from Alaska.

Charlotte is survived by her three sons; Hallam Neal Fain of Lawrenceburg, TN, Dennis Nicholas Fain of Cary, Gary Arthur Fain of Fuquay-Varina and her sister, Linda Merle Tucker Hiers of Moultrie, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hallam Overby Fain and her youngest son, Glen Ivan Fain.
