RALEIGH
Claude James Potter, Jr. passed away in the early hours on Sunday, March 8, 2020. After a marriage of 44 years to Virginia Blackwell of Rolesville they made Raleigh their permanent home. Claude was originally from Pamlico County. He was born and raised on the Island of Lowland, North Carolina. Mr. Potter is predeceased by his beloved, Virginia; his mother and father, Claude James Potter, Sr. and Lenora Leary Potter; three brothers, J.C. Potter of Lowland, NC, Gene Potter of Washington, NC and Odell Potter of Gulf Shores, AL and one sister, Libby West of Raleigh. Mr. Potter is survived by many nieces and nephews, and an extended family.
Mr. Potter was a Baptist , and living in his abundant faith he loved his wife, family, all that knew him and most especially his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In his early days he worked on shrimp boats in Florida. Before retiring, he spent many years working with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
A funeral Service will be held at Vision Baptist Church, 7633 Buffalo Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27604, on Thursday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Church beginning at 1:00 p.m. Internment will follow the service at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh, North Carolina 27603.
Montlawn Funeral Home and Cremation is serving the Potter family.
