Cleve "Buddy" Mahon Brewer II of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at home on July 28, 2023 at the age of 62.

Buddy was born November 10, 1960 in Beckley, West Virginia to Cleve and Betty Brewer of Prosperity, West Virginia.

A visitation and viewing will take place on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 6 to 7 PM and a celebration of life from 7 to 8 PM at Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S Wilmington Street, Raleigh NC.

Buddy will then be taken home to West Virginia for his final resting place with his Mommy and Daddy. A viewing and service will be at Blue Ridge funeral home, 2987 Robert C Byrd Drive, Beckley, WV on Saturday, August 5. Viewing is from 12 to 1 PM, service 1 to 2 PM, with burial at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Buddy will be laid to rest in our family cemetery beside his maternal grandfather, Wyatt "Poppy" Kenna Toney. Buddy adored his Poppy that passed away when Buddy was eight years of age.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Buddy. He loved being with his amazing friends sharing a glass of wine and many laughs. Buddy  found great pride in maintaining an immaculate yard and home for he and his beloved cat, Charlotte. Charlotte was his baby, his world revolved around her, his friends, family and place of employment. Buddy was a commercial delivery driver for Gemaire Distributors in Garner, NC. Buddy took so much pride in his work, assuring all his deliveries were on time, and as expected from his customers. Buddy never met a stranger, he would always go above and beyond to help anyone. With his quick wit and amazing smile, you were captivated and knew this was a man you would never forget.

Growing up in West Virginia, Buddy enjoyed his life as a volunteer fire fighter with the Bradley-Prosperity fire department. He lived life by his scanner and pager, usually arriving first at the station to respond and help those in need. That was Buddy then and his caring nature continued until he took his last breath.

Buddy will be missed immensely by those he left behind. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Betty Jo, maternal grandparents, Beulah Kazell Toney and Wyatt Kenna Toney, paternal grandparents, Orva Christian Brewer and Roy Brewer, SR. He is survived by six siblings, Laura Lego of Calabash, NC, Rebecca "Becky" Kirchner of Raleigh, NC, John Brewer (Kathy) Beaver, WV, Mark Brewer (Lisa) Columbus, GA, Carolyn Dunn, Raleigh, NC, and Susan "Susie" Hughes of Charlotte, NC. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, cousins, and forever friends. We will miss you every day of our lives and will await the day we will be reunited with you. Kiss Mom and Dad, thank you for being our brother and friend. We love you.
