Obituary of Curtis King
Curtis Deaman King, Sr., 85, died Monday at Wake Med. He was born in Garner and raised in Archer Lodge where he farmed and hauled produce. After moving to Raleigh, he owned and operated several gas stations and later became an auto mechanic.
Curtis had a passion for auto racing and raced in the 50's and 60's at local dirt tracks. He loved Nascar and rarely missed watching the races even after his eyesight began to fail.
Curtis was a loving and devoted brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his son, C.D. King, Jr. and wife Gayla of Wendell; sister, Patsy Ann Salmon of Apex; grandson, Curtis T. King of Rolesville; granddaughter, Jennifer Hurst and husband, Jason of Wendell; great-grandchildren, J.J. Hurst and Mackenzie Hurst of Wendell.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 am Wednesday prior to the service.
