Our beloved Cindy Heath Poole, 56, passed away unexpectantly on October 11, 2024 at UNC Johnston Hospital in Clayton, North Carolina. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in August of 2023. Cindy was surrounded by her dearest friends and family when she chose to end her brave and fierce fight against cancer. Cindy died a warrior.

Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Johnny and Annette Heath and sister to Melissa Peoples. Cindy was a proud graduate of East Carolina University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Her career was dedicated to educating our children in the public-school system for 33 years, before retiring in June of 2022.

Cindy was her happiest when shopping for and planting flowers in her garden. Cindy loved being outdoors in nature, among the birds and insects who visited her garden. She had certified her backyard as a wildlife sanctuary by planting native and beneficial plants for insects along with fruit bearing shrubs for the deer and other small creatures. Cindy was a friend to all living things.

Cindy is survived by her daughter, Jenna Poole and partner, Robert Matthews. Cindy's fur babies were dog Bruiser and cat Bella. Cindy loved her family and was their matriarch. Her greatest accomplishment in life was becoming a mother to Jenna.

A celebration of Cindy's life will be held at Montlawn Funeral Home in the form of a visitation for friends and family on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00. We are asking attendees pay tribute to Cindy by wearing a shade of purple in her honor, as this was her favorite color. A graveside service for family only will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 9:00.

Cindy's wish was that her service be laden with flowers so that even in her time of departure, she could still be surrounding by their beauty and fragrance.
