Daisy Rhodes Watkins

October 16, 1932 - December 13, 2022

Raleigh, North Carolina - Daisy Rhodes Watkins, 90, passed away on December 13, 2022.

Daisy's life was defined by faith, family, and service. Her faith was her guiding force.  She was at church every time the doors opened, and sometimes when they weren't.  Nothing was more important to her than her relationship with God above.  Daisy always found a place to serve her church family using her talents and skills at every opportunity.

On earth, her family was everything.  She wholeheartedly loved her two daughters and two grandchildren, always embracing them fully with the best smile she saved just for them.  Daisy is survived by her daughters Tamorah Kelly and husband Chris, Tonya DeBruhl and husband Kevin, and two grandchildren, Shanna Bryan and Jonathan DeBruhl and wife Maris. Coming from a large family from the farm in Columbus County to the city, she was always close to her siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews, and was especially close to her sister Gladys, niece Sherri and her husband Johnny.

She saw many places on this earth both abroad and at home and marveled at everything she was able to experience.  She was also accomplished in her career, rising to the position of Vice President at Durham Life at a time when women were not often in leadership positions.  The values of working hard and doing things the best you can are evident in the lives of her children.  She was always serving others, often behind the scenes, and making life better for everyone that she could.

A visitation will be held on December 17, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Montlawn Funeral Home on S. Wilmington Street in Raleigh followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. also at Montlawn Memorial Park.
