Obituary

Daniel Michael Venese

April 10, 1946 – October 16, 2026

Daniel Michael Venese, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away on October 16, 2026, at the age of 80.

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Dan was the first member of his family to receive a college education. He went on to build a distinguished career in the emerging field of technology, working on sensitive government projects during his many years with MITRE Corporation before retiring in his sixties.

Dan’s greatest joy was his family, especially his beloved wife, Carol Williams Venese. They shared a devoted marriage filled with love, laughter, travel, and memorable adventures, including many trips to France. Together, they raised their daughter, Christine, and made their home in Virginia before enjoying retirement in Wilmington, North Carolina, and finally settling in Raleigh in 2024.

A jovial, outgoing, and gracious man, Dan had a gift for making others feel welcome. He was generous with compliments and encouragement, and his warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He enjoyed traveling, automobiles, coin collecting, photography, and discovering the many pleasures of life.

Dan is survived by his devoted wife, Carol; his daughter, Christine Bethel, and her husband, Doug; his beloved granddaughters, Rosie and Isabella; his nieces and nephews, Steve Williams and his wife, Lora; Greg Williams and his wife, Jan; Jeff Williams and his wife, Melissa; and Sharon Davis and her husband, Steve, and his cousin George Vacca and his wife Margaret; and Cindy Williams, Carol's devoted cousin and Dan's dear friend.

Dan will be remembered with love and gratitude for his devotion to family, his generous spirit, his gentle humor, and the many lives he touched. His legacy will live on in the cherished memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
