Obituary of David Minges

David Roland Minges died peacefully Monday, August 5, 2013 at the Dunlap Hospice Center, Wake County, NC after a courageous battle with cancer.

David is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas Minges of Rocky Mount, NC. He is survived by his siblings: Corrye Minges Hatchell and husband Major, of Henrico, NC; John Thomas Minges, Jr. and wife, Morrie of Rocky Mount, NC; Margaretta Minges Leary and husband Joe, of Charlotte, NC; and Ellen Candayce Minges of Rocky Mount, NC. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Peter Minges Broughton, John T. Minges, III, Amy Minges Harvey, Martha Leah Leary, Joseph C. Leary, IV, David Minges Leary, Anna Katherine Leary, two aunts and many cousins.

David was born April 2, 1956 in Rocky Mount, NC. He was graduated from Rocky Mount Academy and East Carolina University, a member of Phi Kappa Phi. David received his Juris Doctorate from Campbell University.

After many years working in the office of the North Carolina Attorney General, David entered into the private practice of law. David is remembered for his many achievements, but most especially for his love of family, friends and music. With heartfelt thanks and gratitude, the family most sincerely appreciates the support and encouragement of his wonderful friends, neighbors and Liane Moore and all the very kind people at the Dunlap Center and Cancer Center of North Carolina.

The family will receive visitors to celebrate David's life at the home of David McGee, 500 Ramblewood Drive, Raleigh, NC 27609 on Wednesday, August 7th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Plans for a memorial service will be announced in the near future.

The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of David be made to Cancer Center of North Carolina: CCNC Dedicated to the Fight Fund, ATTN: Patient Support, 4101 Macon Pond Road, Raleigh, NC 27607 or the charity of your choice.
