WAKE FOREST

David Luther Tilley, 75, passed away on March 20, 2020 at his home. He was born in Durham County on September 9, 1944 to the late George E. Tilley and Cornelia "Jenny" Crabtree Tilley. David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Newton Tilley; children, Christy Tilley White (Gene), Wendy Tilley Roberts (Wayne), David Wesley Tilley and Darcille Tilley Ortega (Santos); grandchildren, Lauren White, Savanna Wall, Logan White, Alicia Tilley, Austin Tilley, Emily Tilley, Brandon Tilley and Alyssa Tilley; great-grand-children, AJ and Ava Smith; brothers, Jerry Tilley (Patsy), Brian Tilley and Jennifer Robinson; several nieces and nephews and a very dear friend who is like a son to David, Heath Woods.

David served in the Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. After the Army he became a welder and worked at Newton's Welding Service for many years. He greatly enjoyed the many hunting and fishing trips he took with Nancy.

The family will have a private service at their convenience. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Montlawn Funeral Home 2911 S. Wilmington St. Raleigh NC 27603. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.montlawn.com .
