Obituary of Derek Godwin

Derek Oliver Godwin, 58, died unexpectedly at his home Monday, February 1, 2010.

Derek was the son of Loyd and Sheila Godwin and was preceded in death by his Dad in 2007.

Derek graduated from Garner Senior High School where he excelled in all sports including football, basketball, and baseball. He attended NCSU and received a degree as an electrician from Wake Technical Community College. Derek worked for many years at NCSU and recently retired from the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine.

Derek was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing, especially at Topsail Beach.

Derek is survived by his loving wife, Judy; mother, Sheila of Cary; sister, Susan Stallings and husband Danny of Apex; stepdaughter, Amy Million and husband Steve of Wake Forest, and their children, Baileigh and Harrison whom Derek loved dearly, as well as numerous family members both here and in Oxford, England.

At Derek's request, a private service will be held at a later date where his cremated remains will be scattered at sea.
