Obituary of Dianne Gay

Dianne "Meemaw" Rogers Gay, 67 of Cary, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Her life ended as it was lived, with dignity and grace.

Born June 5, 1946 in New Hanover County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Loy Lee Rogers and Christine Marshburn Rogers.

Dianne is survived by her husband of 46 years, Harvey R. Gay, Jr.; son, Aaron Lee Gay; daughter, Heather Gay Meier and her husband Eric; grandsons, Dalton Lee Gay, Travis Lee Meier, and Justin Lee Meier; granddaughter, Rachel Avery Meier; brother, Tommie Lee Rogers and his wife Ann; sister-in-law, Cathy Gay; nephews, Bennett Lee Rogers, Alan Lee Rogers, and Scott Richardson.

Dianne was a graduate of Goldsboro High School. She received an Undergraduate Degree in Business at UNC Greensboro and a Masters Degree in Education from North Carolina State University. Dianne retired as a Special Education Teacher at Wake County Schools after 15 years. Her passions in life were her family and gardening.

A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Maha Elkordy and Clare Bremer for their care and compassion. A special thanks to the nurses and staff of Rex Cancer Center and North Carolina Cancer Center, as well as the staff at Hospice of Wake County.
