IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dollie Pipkin
House
September 27, 1930 – February 22, 2025
Dollie Kathleen Pipkin House was known to all as a woman of great faith, which was reflected in all her words and actions. She was a member of Longview Baptist Church, where she served many years as a Sunday school teacher and as a deacon. Her life was a beautiful testimony of a life lived for the glory of God and the service of others.
She was the 9th of 10 children born to Clyde C. Pipkin and wife, Lula Mae Joyner Pipkin, all now deceased, and most of whom were buried at Montlawn Cemetery. Her siblings' names were Brantley, Evelyn, Gaynelle, Clarence, Estelle, Frances, Cecil "C.C.", Hazel, and Wilbur.
Dollie was born in Raleigh, NC, where she lived all her life. By special arrangement, she was able to go some years to Knightdale schools, in order to get their bus service, but she graduated from Hugh Morsen High School in Raleigh. She then went on to a business school to study secretarial skills. She worked as a secretary until after her 2nd child was born. Her next job was as a US government secretary working in communications on Wednesdays only.
In 1960, she and her husband Harper "H.H." House started a real estate business, for which she did the administrative work until she retired.
She was the mother of 5 grateful children:
Kathy Diane House Dew, Luanne House Lawrence, Harper Hillman House III (wife Annie), Joey Darnell House (wife Brenda), and David Alan House (wife Nohelia).
She has 19 grandchildren:
Allison, Jamie, Robert, Diana, Andrew, Jordan, Anna Holland, Sofia, Rebecca, Joseph, Joshua, Brittany, Rachel, Katie, Amanda, George, Ben, Dave, and Harper.
She has 21 great grandchildren:
Graham, Ansleigh, Campbell, Natalie, Nathan, Samuel, Samantha, Olive, Margot, Campbell, Wilkes, Caroline, Alexander, Ezra, Theo, Halley, Lia, Everett, Nora, Emma, and Elijah.
Dollie's leisure time was spent gardening, reading, sewing, reading, writing, traveling, studying the Bible, and most of all participating in church activities at Longview Baptist Church. She also volunteered to teach reading at the prison. And she took writing classes and was published in Guideposts Magazine and Southern Living Magazine.
Dollie embodied the Christian role model perfectly - praying consistently and personally for others, while accepting and loving others unconditionally, regardless of their paths.
She was a blessing to all who knew her.
All services are at Montlawn Cemetery, on Saturday, March 8.
