Mrs. Dolores L. Chapman, a resident of Raleigh, NC died October 26, 2018 at Spring Arbor Assisted Living.

Born in Bennington, VT May 8, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Hazel Laflame Lacroix and Gedeon N Lacroix.

She received her education at Sacred Heart School, Bennington, VT, and was a graduate of High Schoool Class of 1948 from Bennington High School. She was a registered nurse, having attended, the Bishop Memorial School For Nurses in Pittsfield, MA, Class of 1951. She was named the Outstanding Student of her Nursing Class. Following her graduation from Bishop Memorial, Dolores was employed at Putnam Memorial Hospital in Bennington, VT as an operating room nurse. For several years she was an active member of the Vermont State Nurses Association, Chairman of their Economic Security Program which promoted better nursing benefits for registered nurses.

Dolores married Dr. Volney B. Chapman (D.D.S.) in Hoosick Falls, NY on June 22, 1968. She was the office manager of her husband's dental practice until his retirement. Dr. Chapman died March 23, 1992.

Mrs. Chapman was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, Hoosick Falls, NY, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Mary, Hoosick Falls, NY. Dee (as her friends called her) was a dedicated caregiver watching over her elderly friends and family throughout her life. She also enjoyed needlework, reading, and spending time with friends and family at her home.   Dolores was an extremely generous and loving person who had a very special bond with her nieces and nephews and later in life she took great joy in spending time with her great great, nieces.

Survivors include her brother Gedeon A Lacroix of West Arlington, VY, her sister Elaine L. Sachau of Raquette Lake, NY and Merritt, NC, her nieces Deborah Stanley, Doreen Sachau, her nephews Christopher Lacroix and wife Kathy, y, Daniel S. Sachau,  her great nephews Thomas J. Mayhew and his wife Patricia, her great niece Desire M. Shiffer and her husband Aaron, great nephew Robert G. Stanley, great niece Jasmine Sachau, great great nieces Avery and Taylor Shiffer, Stella, Millie, and Hazel Mayhew, and several cousins.

A memorial and burial at Chapman Lot in Maple Grove Cemetery, Hoosick Falls, NY, will be arranged at date to be determined.

Contributions to St. Mary's Academy, Hoosick Falls, NY, Sacred Heart School Bennington, VT., St. Mary Mother of the Church, Raleigh, NC  and Autism Speaks.
