Donald James Hamilton was born October 27, 1960 in Essex County Massachusetts. Don passed away October 24, 2024 at Wake Med hospital in Raleigh surrounded by his loving family.

Don enjoyed spending time with family. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. Don was a very giving person who showed lots of love and compassion for others. He enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, cooking and most recently took up riding his electric bike. Prior to his back issues, Don loved horseback riding. In past years, Don enjoyed woodworking. He has several pieces in hotels in Raleigh as well as the Town Hall in Knightdale.

Don worked for Carolina Chain and Cable/Lift Solutions for 18 years. Even during his illness, Don continued to contribute selflessly, always finding ways to support his employees, customers, and friends without complaint. His leadership extended far beyond his day-to-day responsibilities- he truly embodied the spirit of service, teaching and guiding others with kindness and humility. Don was well known across the NE Rigging group for his willingness to help and teach, and his influence will continue to be felt for years to come. Prior to his career at Carolina Chain and Cable, Don worked in HVAC and the plumbing industry.

Don is survived by his mother, Josephine Hamilton of Methuen, Mass, brother Kevin Hamilton also of Methuen, Mass, Patti Hamilton, spouse of 42 years. Children; Keith Hamilton (Suzanne) Alyssa Hamilton, William Hamilton and Cheyenne Hamilton; Grandchildren; Kaleb Hamilton and Justice Hicks, he was preceded in death by his father Raymond Hamilton and grandson Taylor Hicks.

Following the funeral, please join the family at the Celebration of Life Reception at 4:30 pm. This will be held at 901 Lynwood Road, Knightdale, NC. (Planterswalk Club House)  This will be a time to visit with our family and friends for great Italian cuisine in honor of Don who loved to cook his favorites on Christmas Eve.
