Donald Ray Lane, Jr., 72, passed away on December 13, 2019 at Wayne UNC Health Care. He was born November 8, 1947 in Wilmington, NC to the late Donald and Jeannine  Lane. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister in law, Jimmy and Anne Lane and stepson, Thomas Lee Watkins.

Don served as a MP in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Don retired from General Electric in Wilmington with over 20 years of service. He was a dedicated family man who loved the Lord. He was a member of Lee's Grove Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church. Don, along with his wife Delores, served the Lord in their retirement years by ministering to those in rest homes in the Wilmington and Burgaw area. He loved playing with his grandchildren and couldn't resist winning stuffed animals for them wherever he went.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Delores Lee Lane, daughter, Melissa Ward (Ron); grandchildren, Autumn Watkins, Brett Rogers, Daniel Cooper and Kaylee Ward; sisters Pat Wilson (Bob) and Melody Jenkins (Stan); brothers, Randy Lane (Nancy) and Phil Lane (Becky); and numerous nephews and nieces.

A memorial service celebrating and remembering Don will be held Monday, December 16, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Montlawn Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, 2911 S. Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC 27603. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
