Obituary of Doris Crawford

Doris Brown Crawford passed away December 15 after a lengthy period of declining health. Born on October 7, 1923, the youngest of seven children of Belton and Janie Brown, Doris was raised to love the Lord in Chesterfield County, SC. Shortly after marrying William Hinton Crawford in 1942, she relocated to Wilmington, NC, where the couple raised their only son, William Gerald 'Jerry' Crawford. Doris eventually took a temporary position with France Neckwear Company - a position she held for 40 years. After retirement, she relocated to Raleigh in 1993 to be closer to family. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, son and all siblings. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sara Cockerill and her husband Lewis, her grandson, Troy Crawford and his wife Jennie, and three great-grandchildren.

The family would like to acknowledge the extraordinary care provided by her nurses Kim, Vicki, Linda and many, many others. A lifelong Methodist, Doris would be pleased to know a memorial service will be held for her Saturday at Macedonia UMC Chapel at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Macedonia UMC or a charity of one's choosing.
