CARY

Doris Hannah (née Rosenbaum) Dolney, 89, of Manhattan, New York, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in Cary, North Carolina.

She was born December 3, 1932 in Manhattan, New York to the late Henrietta (née Bergman), of Manhattan, New York and Louis Rosenbaum of Manhattan, New York.

Doris graduated Jamaica High School, Queens, NY, class of 1950. She went on to earn her RN, in 1953, at the Mount Sinai School of Nursing, NY, NY and later her BSN from St. Leo University, St. Leo, Florida.

Although Doris lived and worked many years in Philadelphia, PA (Albert Einstein Medical Center), Long Island, NY (Good Samaritan) Hernando Beach, FL (Bayonet Point and Oak Hill) and Ponce Inlet, FL, she always thought of herself as a "New Yorker."

Doris's greatest joy was being the mother to her three children, Michael, Anthony and Kimberly, and Grandma Dot, to her many grand and great-grandchildren.

Doris married her husband Frank Dolney on February 2, 1980 in Sayville, NY.  In the 80's she and Frank moved to Hernando Beach, Florida, where she continued to work as a nurse.  She also became an active member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in Hernando County for 20 years.  Doris was an avid reader and lifelong patron of the public library system.  Upon retirement she volunteered her time at the Port Orange Public Library.

Doris was preceded by her husband of 40 years, Frank Dolney, her former husband, Eddie Piper, as well as, her sister, Millicent Nunziata, her grandson, Dante Baldwin and her daughter-in-law Gloria Piper.  She leaves a legacy for her family and will forever be cherished by her brother, Jerry Rosenbaum (Ann), her children; Michael Piper (Patty), Anthony Piper (Abby) and Kimberly Schlink (Michael), her grandchildren: Michael Baldwin (Karen), Durrell (Dominique) and Anthony Piper (Victoria), Mason Piper and Hannah Baskin, Piper (Tanner), Rachel, Hannah and Nicolette Schlink, as well as 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
