Dorothy (Dot) Thomas Jordan, age 84, of Cary, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Transitions LifeCare Hospice Home in Raleigh.

Dorothy was born on August 20, 1941, in Wake County, North Carolina, to the late Raymond Darnell Thomas and Josephine Rogers Thomas. She spent her professional career in service to the State of North Carolina, retiring from the Estates Division of Superior Court.

Dorothy loved sports, and never missed an N.C. State football or basketball game. She and her husband, the late C.Y. Jordan, held season tickets for many years. She also cheered on the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Baltimore Ravens and in her later years, watched more tennis, golf and WNBA games as well.

A true tomboy at heart, Dorothy loved staying active. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing, swimming, playing softball and horseback riding. Throughout her life, she displayed a deep love for all animals, especially her dogs, and supported many charities related to animal welfare.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Tamara Sanderford, of Cary, her cousin Emmett (Butch) Stafford and his wife Louise of Colorado, and her cousin Sharyn Conole of Texas. She will be lovingly remembered by a host of dear friends, old and new, who will miss her warmth, humor, and the sparkle in her eyes.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Brookdale MacArthur Park in Cary and to Transitions LifeCare Hospice Home in Raleigh for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Dorothy and her family.
