Obituary of Dorothy Parrish
Dorothy Virginia Parrish, 86, died Sunday, September 27, 2009 at The Oaks of Carolina in Raleigh.
A memorial service will be held at Whitley Memorial United Methodist Church, 800 Wilson's Mills Rd. Smithfield, NC 27577, Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 11:00 am.
Mrs. Parrish was born December 1, 1922 in Johnston County, NC to Joe and Gladys Price of Selma, NC. Dorothy served her country in the United States Army for 2 years in WWII. Dorothy was an active member at the E.L. Roberson Center, as well as a member of the Silver Liners Dance Group and volunteered at Montessori School helping children with their reading in Tarboro, NC. She was also an active participant in erecting the Woman's WWII Memorial in Washington, DC.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Jeffery Parrish of Alto, GA; her daughters, Donna Bernheisel of Dana Point, CA and Betty Holden of Garner, NC; two granddaughters, and three great-grandchildren. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Joe Parrish in 1992, daughter Joanne Bowers in 2007, and granddaughter Karla Soucy in 2008.
